I find that rainy Swedish Summer days and vacation tempos bring a little inspiration and a quiet window for a few small household projects I can do with the kids. After all, we have the midnight sun and we all feel the need for less sleep — more time for work and play! I’ve had my eyes open wide for the “just right,” compact, bedside, tables for the boys and I’ve recently found two that are simply perfect from wonderful Swedish designer, Malin Lundmark.
Malin makes the most irresistible hooks, too. I don’t know which hook, complete with a little shelf for a book or two, I’d like more for a little boy’s room: the tow truck or car caravan? I’ve heard that Malin drew inspiration for these from the classic wooden car toys.
I understand this feeling is exactly what Malin’s trying to create is her designs: playful, functional, room decoration. Malin wants the product to both have a soul and to tell a story. Everything she makes becomes a part of her wonderland world; a world where fantasy becomes reality, a world where environment and products come together to create a completeness. Oh, I agree! I love the seamless idea of imagination and function.
