A couple of weeks ago, we managed to squeeze in one little, last trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts for this summer! We hadn’t been there since Oona was three months old and it was just as great as last time. Because it was after kids were back in school, we had the beaches to ourselves. The girls had so much fun collecting rocks and shells. (More on the rocks in another post!). And we were also shown around all the local places by our friend who lives in Hyannis.
It was so interesting to see the Kennedy compound: where all the Kennedy family have their summer houses and where Taylor Swift has been hanging out with Conor Kennedy, and especially to see JFK’s house where he spent his summers.
Four Seas Ice-cream parlor
Our friend was telling us that when she was very little, she used to see Jackie at daily mass in Centerville, and that Jackie frequented the same ice-cream parlor we went to. If you are ever there, it is the Four Seas Ice-Cream Parlor and it is all home-made and supposedly the best ice-cream on Cape Cod. The parlor hasn’t changed it’s look since it opened in 1934!
Also, Main Street in Hyannis is very quaint. If you take a stroll down there, don’t forget to visit Morrison Glass Studio. Stunning, handblown glass. They have some cool glass blowing workshops after Christmas, if you happen to be going.
Sandwich
We also did a lot of visiting in other parts of Cape Cod. Provincetown is really worth the drive. And I thought the town of Sandwich, which also happens to be the oldest town on Cape Cod, so quaint with the afternoon teas and antique shops and gorgeous little harbor.
