Just got this fabulous book and wanted to share this 4th of July, Fresh Flower Crown tutorial with you all. The book is Flower Crowns by Christy Meisner Doramus, and has 30 DIY floral crown creations in it, including this one. And look, she made a crown for actress, Amanda Seyfriend!

Have your little girl show off your patriotic spirit at the beach or barbecue in style with this fresh red, white, and blue flower crown. To create this crown, you will use blue hydrangeas, red ranunculus, and white wax flowers. I hope you enjoy this very detailed tutorial from the book! And if you like this, you can purchase the book right here!

1: Clip small sections of the blue hydrangeas and white wax flowers approximately 3 inches from the base of the blooms. Also, clip the stem of the red ranunculus close to the base of the flower, leaving about 1⁄4 inch of stem.

TIP: Spray roses are also a great substitute for this look if you are not able to find ranunculus.

2: Cut a 4-inch piece of florist wire and feed it through the red ranunculus stem and bloom.

3: Create a small hook with the end of the florist wire and pull it carefully into the ranunculus bloom to secure.

TIP: Pulling the hooked florist wire through the bloom ensures that the bloom will face outward in the final crown.

4: Gather 3–5 sprigs of the white wax flowers. Wrap a new 10- to 12-inch piece of florist wire around the bunch in a spiral motion from left to right, securing the stems to the piece of wire that is holding the red ranunculus.

5: Gather 3–5 sprigs of the blue hydrangeas and place them into the red and white bunch, wrapping the wire around the group of stems to create a growing strand of flowers.

6: Repeat steps 1–3 and add another red ranunculus, twisting the florist wire from the base of the stem around the growing strand of flowers from left to right. Continue adding small bunches of
blue hydrangeas and white wax flowers, alternating with the red ranunculus blooms. Wrap each piece into the growing strand of flowers.

8: Once you have reached the desired flower crown length, clip the group of stems so they are all the same length, at least 1⁄2 inch away from the wire that holds them all together. Create a loop with the end of the moss- covered wire and wrap the end of the strand in a spiral beginning at the base of the loop moving backward toward the flowers to cover any loose florist wire. Repeat on the other side.

9: Cut 2 pieces of ribbon, 1 yard each. Fold each piece in half and feed one through each of the two loops you just created. Pull the loop tightly, then use the two ends to tie a second knot to secure.
